THIS IS A LIST OF QUESTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN ASKED OF SIDING SOLUTIONS, INC.

OUR HOPE IS THAT BEFORE LONG OTHERS WILL CONTRIBUTE THEIR FAQ

Question: When inspecting an O.S.B. Type composite siding, how does one determine edge checking from delamination of the overlay material?

Answer: While edge checking with an O.S.B. Product is a measurable presence of a fissure like split in the edge grain side of the board, delamination of the overlay material could occur if edge checking is in the proximity of the overlay. The overlay material is a resin soaked paper embossed with to resemble wood grain onto the O.S.B. sub-straight.

Question: Is there a way to only replace what appears to be "bad board" on a composite sided home? Only the bottom two feet look bad.

Answer: Often we have reccommended removal of those bottom two feet or at least what is visually affected by water saturation. You must do this to expose the sheathing and or framing members for wood decay fungi inspection. We suggeset that even if you see no evidence of wood decay fungi, it is a good idea while the wall is open to treat that area and all areas to be resided over with a good quality boron based fungicide.

Question: What type of paint or finish is reccommended for Masonite siding? What is "back brushing" the "drip edges mean?"

Answer: Always use the siding manufacture's recommended paint. We suggest the you request from your paint retailer a brand with elastomeric qualities. The lower most edge of lap siding is the "drip edge" and to "back brush it" means to "hit it" with another coat using a brush. This is to give "better weather" to that lower drip edge.
